Shared response to story-driven conservation work

Strong conservation storytelling can make complex public issues clearer, more engaging, and more likely to connect with the people who need to understand them.

“Gilbert was a strong and engaging piece that helped bring an important salmon issue to life through creative storytelling.”
— Brian Glebe Feedback on the Gilbert salmon storytelling work.

A studio built at the intersection of craft and place.

"Local stories. Broadcast craft. Built by someone already here."

Lucas & Liam Legacy Studios is a Cape Breton cinematic production studio founded by Lucas Cotton. We help tourism operators, heritage organizations, and conservation groups turn local stories into brand films, documentary work, and digital identity systems built to attract attention, earn trust, and stay useful long after launch.

What makes us different isn't the tools. It's the place. Every frame we shoot comes from someone who grew up on this island — who knows what the fog off the Bras d'Or looks like at 6am, what a Cape Breton voice sounds like, and why the stories here matter. We don't parachute in. We're already here.

Our documentary work airs on Telile Community Television. Our animated characters — Cod B'y and Puffy of the Atlantic Cinematic Universe — are built on primary source historical research. Our music releases under Rogue Tide.

Work that helps people connect

The goal is not just to explain an issue, but to make it land emotionally and clearly enough that people stay with it.

“I’ve never doubted that some people will identify with these videos and be motivated to act.”
— Bradford Burns Response to the Gilbert salmon awareness pieces.

The Clapping Stopped.

Written in solidarity with 2,200 CUPE Nova Scotia long-term care workers — on strike across 24 homes from Yarmouth to Glace Bay.

During COVID, long-term care workers across Nova Scotia masked up, doubled shifts, and walked straight into outbreaks. When families were locked outside — they were in there. Holding hands. Sitting with people in their last hours so they wouldn't be alone.

We called them heroes. We said we'd never forget.

This is what forgetting looks like.
